Norman Economic Development Coalition

The Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC) is a vital part of Norman’s technological community.  NEDC was formed in 1996 and is a joint effort between the University of Oklahoma, the City of Norman and the Sooner Centurions, a committee of the Norman Chamber of Commerce.

One of the NEDC’s main programs is the emerging technology entrepreneurial center, or eTec.  The program is a small business accelerator for high-tech companies and has hosted multiple weather-related Norman companies through its incubator program.

In addition to supporting eTec, the NEDC provides confidential industry location assistance, location incentive analysis, complete GIS mapping services of Norman and labor market surveys, among other services.  The NEDC also actively recruits prospective businesses to the Norman area.

The Norman Economic Development Coalition is dedicated to expanding the economic base of the Norman community, enhancing the earnings opportunities of area residents by retaining and expanding existing business and industry, and attracting desirable new employers that are consistent with Norman’s high quality of life.

“Norman is a true weather-industry center and the ideal location for anyone starting a weather-related business or for a company that needs weather expertise to complement its core business.” - Don Wood, Executive Director
