Norman Chamber of Commerce

The Norman Chamber of Commerce has been a supporter of Norman businesses for more than 90 years. The Chamber helps educate the public about the Norman community’s many industries, including the growing weather community.

Each year, the Chamber takes Norman business leaders to Washington, D.C. to educate the Oklahoma Congressional delegation about the weather industry. The Chamber group helped secure funding for the National Weather Center and is an active participant in the American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting.

The Chamber also has a committee devoted entirely to weather. The Chamber’s Weather committee is one of Norman’s most active groups. Speakers from a broad range of backgrounds including economic development, wind energy, radar innovations, surface-based observing systems and “town and gown” relationships between the City of Norman and the University of Oklahoma keynote each meeting.

The Norman Chamber serves an important role by bringing the entire Norman weather community together. The Chamber facilitates healthy discussions among the various weather partners in Norman, and provides a neutral ground for the generation of new ideas that will serve not only Norman, Oklahoma, but society at large.

“Weather is an extremely significant industry and employment cluster in Norman. The Chamber provides a neutral forum for interaction among the various sectors of the weather industry.” - Anna-Mary Suggs, Executive Director
